Boston defenseman Nikita Zadorov was sitting on his team`s bench and hit Pittsburgh forward Evgeni Malkin, who had his back to him, with his stick. Malkin hit back, hitting Bruins defenseman Mason Lorey.
Zadorov and Malkin were fined 5 thousand dollars for their actions. The defender is punished for unsportsmanlike conduct, the attacker is punished for chopping with his stick.
The money will go to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.
